PDF adventures

My PDF adventures continue. Like ChloĆ©-Agathe, I too needed to create a large (30+ pages), single PDF file out of a combination of multiple other files, and page numbers – i.e., re-numbering – is really helpful. I already know of pdftk, and from her blog post – and others, I learned that this was all still possible 11 years later on macOS 27.0.1. Step 1: Combine the 1st two pages of foo.

iPhones 2027

I was listening to John Gruber/Chance Miller on The Talk Show talking about iPhone pricing come September. I promptly stopped listening to write this post comprised of unoriginal thinking. I still find it still helps me clarify my own plans. As a recap, here are the iPhones 17 lineup pricing in USD from last September, effectively ancient history now: Screenshot from an earlier post of mine. I don’t know that the numbers above will hold for their upcoming lineup in view of RAMageddon.

iPhone 16e

In the flurry of (my own personal) happenings this past week, I completely forgot that Tim Apple posted a teaser about new hardware. Belatedly, I watched the video. For me, the most exciting thing is probably the bundling of their in-house modem, marketed as “C1”: USD pricing: I suppose the “e” means everyone; i.e., the iPhone for everyone. Nice. Update: I like the Compare feature on the current lineup. Of course, 16e < 16 < 16 Pro.

Apple "It's Glowtime" Event

I love Apple’s “bento box” summaries, so here are the hardware (and software) presented a couple days ago (ref: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uarNiSl_uh4). The following sections have, of course, been reordered in terms of my own personal excitement level. AirPods Pro 2 as a hearing aid If this works as advertised, take my money! This is an older model at this point, but just take my money!! I am so excited by this new software feature that I snuck in a non-bento box image.

New iPad Pro 2 screen sizes (11-inch, 13-inch). “Ultra Retina XDR” displays. Thickness: 5.3 (and 5.1) mm. (Ed: How come the larger device is thinner?)
